Identify This Neglected Rose

I bought this thorny rose at a local garden center about 10 years ago. The tag is long gone. It has been planted in a large clay pot on my patio ever since. I don’t do much to it at all in the way of fertilizer or pruning, but when it blooms it shines. The color is pink with some hints of apricot. They look lovely in a small glass vase on my kitchen table. It has grown about 4 feet tall. I must admit I do not know much about roses, beside what we studied in school – and that wasn’t much). Today most gardeners here in Houston are planting Earthkind roses, which need little care, especially in our climate. If you know the name of this rose, please post a comment here.

A favorite of something else too. These leaves have been nibbled on but fortunately not too much to prevent these lovely blooms. rose-leaf

  1. Oh it is a beauty, Jackie! I don’t know the name, most roses look so similar to each other, but maybe if you take it to the Rose Emporium in Brenham they could tell you. I would make the drive over there from the Woodlands at least once a month, what a fantastic place and they had much more for sale besides roses too. 🙂

      Hi Frances,
Yes, I have been there and it was a treat. Thank you for the reminder. 🙂

  2. That’s a long time for a rose bush to survive in a pot! It almost looks like a “Peace” tea rose, but hard to tell. It’s very beautiful.
