History: This was my professional website during my web development career. In 2023, I merged my hobby gardening site (Southern Post Journal) into this site. You can find some of my previous technical posts archived here on this site as well.
Welcome. I’m Jackie D’Elia, the creator of this website and this chronicles my journey in gardening, DIY projects, and photography. In 2014, I moved from Houston, Texas (Zone 9a) to North Carolina (Zone 7b). Having lived in Texas where heat and insects are especially challenging, it is a welcome change, however, North Carolina has its own set of challenges.
I am an organic gardener because I believe Mother Nature is our best teacher. There is a balance to every ecosystem and our gardens are no different. Maintaining that balance and not disrupting it is my goal.
I love clay pots, cooler weather, live oak trees, dahlias, sunflowers, and waterlilies to name a few.
