Something for Dinner from the Garden

Banana peppers were picked this week and turned red on the windowsill. I am sure they’ll be sweeeet. Heirloom tomatoes including a large Bull’s Heart and an adorable mini cinderella pumpkin-like tomato. Beautiful Chelsea Prize cucumbers are outstanding in my raised beds. All in all, this was a good harvest timed so perfectly for a holiday weekend.

  1. Gorgeous bounty from you garden Jackie! Great meals in store for the holiday weekend 🙂 My tomatoes are almost ready to turn…can’t wait for that!

Thanks Diane! Now I’m battling the birds who also want my tomatoes. I pick them as soon as they get a tinge of pink and let them ripen on the windowsill. They taste just as sweet. I’ve had to put up the bird net.

  2. The tomatoes and cucumber you shared with me were scrumptious! Thank you for sharing the bounty!

  3. I planted Chelsea Prize seeds in a large container about 10 days ago and a couple have already germinated even with the cooler weather we are having this weekend. I assume that if they sprouted that all will be well but should I have waited until the soil is warmer? I am worried about production.

    Thank you.

      1. I am in Zone 8b (Champions/1960). I feel a little dumb for having bothered you in retrospect since the seeds have now sprouted and are doing well. This is my first attempt at cucumbers, etc and just did not know what to expect.

Glad to hear they are doing well. I usually plant my seeds directly in the bed around this time of year and they do just fine.
